Well i was waiting for Macworld before buying my 15 inch MBP and now there is a dillema. That 17 inch is looking mighty nice but has a pretty hefty price tag. On my MBP i am going to be video editing, gaming, and using it for college. Portability is kind of key here also. Do you think i should spring out the extra cash or settle with the 15inch?

honestly, i didnt find the 17inch that impressive besides the battery part, the ability to expand it up to 8gigs is out of question for me because its going to be pretty expensive.

Also, i dont see many benefits between a 15.4" to a 17" at that price.

I find the 4-5 hours that the MBP provides be to be sufficient for my college needs

I'd even consider the unibody MacBook 13" - it's really small, and very powerful. Only gaming might suffer without dedicated card but then again the NVidia chipset is the fastest integrated graphics chip by far.

Personally I am going to get the 17 but that's because I love the battery life and RAM, and large screen size. It fits my needs perfectly and I don't mind the price, it's actually pretty low for what you get.

I don' know if you would really benefit much from going for the 17" MBP. The reason I own one is because most of the work that I do is done at a studio or home on a full on desk setup, with all sorts of other stuff. I still need to be able to work with my machine on the go though, so the portability is still necessary.

It really comes down to what aspect is important to you. Screen size is one of the largest factors of cost, so if you don't need a 17" screen I definitely wouldn't go for it. It really is as simple as that.

Man I am on such a tight budget but THAT 17" Macbook Pro looks nice. I've considered the prostitution lifestyle cause I want it so bad lol. If the 15" came with that battery then I wouldn't care but 7-8 HOURS ON A 17" machine is hard to turn up. Nice CPU boost too, its hard to turn away and grab the 15 inch now. The only reason I want a mac is for Final Cut Studio 2 anyway lol.

Having a full 1920x1200 to work with any an pro App is extremely useful, and there are productivity articles to prove it! :D

Plus I think many would tell you from experience.

and yeah..the 9600gt on a 3000 dollars machine is a disgrace....i know its an apple...but cmmon i had a 9800gts in a gateway....i love my macbook but i expected more from apple on the new 17 incher

I personnaly think that having a 15 inch for portability and an external big monitor for professionnal working is the best.

Plus you re on a thight budget, you could delay the expense of the monitor.

    Hi cowmoogun,
There is ton of gaming notebook in the market that have a cheaper price. (With the money to buy a macbook pro, you can buy a 17" laptop with high gaming quality)
FYI, there is 1 17" gateway gaming laptop in the NBR market place section for sale @ 1000$. Sorry, I can find the name but lazy to look up ^_^
