So you're paying for this feature from Apple (of course it's included in the cost somewhere). And then you'll pay even more to get rid of that feature.

Brilliant! (and I'm not being sarcastic when I say this).

The only thing that could've made this better is if it was Apple itself offering the above product :p Think of the money they could've made!

It's like virus-makers selling you antivirus software (not that I'm insinuating anything of the kind).

So...this product gets rid of the magnetic tip of the Magsafe, so you no longer accidentally yank the cord?

That's pointless...the magnetic tip is there for a reason (and a good reason, to be clear). I agree, this is silly.

To be more precise, it makes your MagSafe stay on by clamping it, with your USB drive as an anchor - so it takes up your left USB slot too.

I wouldn't say it's silly in principle - after all, some people may dislike the MagSafe and the overall value of the MBP would outweigh what they consider to be a con, and this $12 item would "fix" it...but still, all things considered...

and losing 1 of 2 USB slots for it too :p

Of course, I could be really mean and analogize this to the people who buy a MBP and then hamstring themselves by shrinking the OSX partition to 5GB and paying for Vista....but I figure I'll be nice :p

This does completely defeat the purpose of the MagSafe.
Can't wait to hear the horror stories of people tripping over their power cords and yanking their MBPs onto the floor. Perhaps they'll develop breakaway feature on the next generation MagStay... whoa... deja vu...

This is a note for potential MacBook buyers:

One cannot *really* keep unintentionally disconnecting the MagSafe power connector. It holds on pretty tightly.

I can see a point though... it lets you turn off the MagSafe feature in some situations where it might be a nuissance, and you can leave it on (by not using the product) in other situations.

But yeah, I doubt if it's gonna take the (Mac) world by storm or anything.
