It is very easy to add ram to a macbook. I'll do it to mine eventually.

maybe someone can confirm. you need to have at least ONE stick of Apple ram in order to retain your warranty. if anyone can please provide proof of this if it's true that would be great.

I stuck two 1GB of Crucial RAM into my Macbook and it works great. I do strongly advice on keeping the original sticks in case you do need to send the machine back to Apple.

I actually saw this incredible podcast with andy walker and some other guy on tech tv today, I forget what it's called. But they showed him upgrading the HD and the ram in under 10 minutes! It looked super easy.

Hi, will it void the waranty if I added the ram to the macbook myself? Also, I can only get hold of:

    DDRII Apacer 512MB SODIM 200PIN 667MHZ DIMM
    DDRII Apacer 1024MB SODIM 200PIN 667MHZ DIMM

Will these ram work on a macbook?

    Thanks

Those ram chips should work ngxfer. I used G.Skill and many other mac users recommend G.Skill as well.

Thanks alot for your help. It is a big relief now.

But will it changing the ram myself will void the waranty? cause some people said it does and some said it doesn't. >.< Thanks alot for your valuable time.

No it does not void your warranty. However, if something goes wrong, the mac geniuses will be quick to point at what the user replaced when they diagnose the problem.

As xprohx said, the geniuses and AppleCare will all look at the RAM as the cause. So keep the old Apple RAM around. It is also useful to you to diagnose issues. I have Mushkin in mine and have been very happy.
