Not unless you install Windows on it or some virtualization software like Parallels or CrossOver Mac.

And looking at the requirements it doesn't exactly look as if it will fly on a MacBook with its integrated GMA950.

    Minimum System Requirements:
    •Windows® 2000 or XP
•1.8 Ghz Intel Pentium IV or equivalent or AMD Athlon XP or equivalent
    •512 MB RAM
•5 GB free hard drive space
•64 MB NVIDIA GeForce 3 or equivalent or ATI Radeon 8500 series with Pixel Shader 1.1 support or equivalent
    •DirectX® 9.0c compatible 16-bit sound card
    •8x or faster CD-ROM drive
    •Keyboard, Mouse

    Recommended System Requirements:
    •Windows XP
•3.0 Ghz Intel Pentium IV or equivalent
    •1 GB RAM
•5.0 GB or more free hard drive space
•128 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series or ATI Radeon X800 series or equivalent
•DirectX® 9.0c compatible or Soundblaster X-Fi series sound card
    •8x or faster CD-ROM/DVD drive
    •Keyboard, Mouse

Isn't the GMA950 supposed to be equivalent in performance to the GeForce3? Sounds like it would at least meet the minimum requirements.

As a general point, wouldn't it probably be a lot cheaper and simpler to just buy a new DVD drive for your PC? i mean, I think even dual-layer dvd burners are in the $30-50 range now.

    PLEASE NOTE

CrossOver for Mac is not yet available, and is only designed to work with specific applications, and it will most likely not work for games.

If you want to use games, Transgaming the maker of Cedega which is popular among linux for running games that are designed for Windows is currently creating 'Cider' for Apple, interesting name isn't it for Apple? Anyways it's designed for Game software people to program more easily for Macs and the sort. No word on when it will be released, the same applies for crossover for mac.

Yeah it will run windows xp if you install it, just make you have legit unused license for it. You'll most likely become a OS X user though, pretty much everyone else did in this forum.

CrossOver Mac works with unsupported software. I am very impressed with it so far ;)

All Cider does is load an Windows environment in the memory which it runs the game from, meaning that game developers only have to wrap Cider inside the game code.

It will most likely run, but it would be at the minimum requirements, so you might have to run it on low settings.

Perhaps someone here who has an MB with Windows on it could install the Titan Quest demo and report how well it runs.

Yeah I was mostly trying to state that these aren't released public/final versions and shouldn't exactly be recommended out yet if you know what I mean. I'd hate for someone to get a Macbook thinking that this software is available already only to find out they have a wait longer, and they need something right away, but don't wanna bother with installing Windows or even know how.

The GMA950 lacks T&L (transform and lighting) which is why it is so slow in most modern (and not so modern) games. I would get about 60fps on Quake 3 Arena, and if I recall correctly I would get about 100+ fps on a Geforce3Ti200 using similar configs. It is indeed a very sad machine for gaming, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone interested in gaming to get a Macbook - perhaps the next version will sport a dedicated GPU. I do like gaming, but since I've got no spare time it doesn't bother me much.

I'm not even sure if the next version would even be safe yet for dedicated GPU, I think before Apple focuses on that they really need to look for a GPU that uses a smaller process, and much less power. I think then it'd be a great addition. I would think in at least 2 more revisions we can expect to see it, maybe than my Macbook will have some 'unfortunate' problems and I have to swap it and get a newer updated one. :X lol however because of the quality of Apples products, I doubt it'll happen. ;)

There are quite a few users here who do that exact thing, many report just because they ONLY use it for gaming, their windows runs pretty dang fast on the system.

    WindowsOS -Gaming only
    OS X -Everything else

I believe I know of two people here for sure who do such a thing.

Oh boy so excited for Leopard!

I'm just sitting here waiting anxiously for news from WWDC.

I wish someone would get some kind of blower and blow underneath those black curtins that Apple has up everywhere.
