    Hi,

First, we all probably know already that the apple site was updated. Check it out if you haven't already.

Second- What should I do right now? I bought a MacBook on THURSDAY and now they already have new ones! Is there a way I can upgrade?!? My friend also recently bought a MacBook Pro and he mentioned something about Customer Relations refunding him money or something of that nature. What does this mean? Is there a way to upgrade without paying an arm and a leg (again)?

Third- I bought an iPhone 3G 8gig mid December. I remember that at that time they had some sort of update process where you could trade in your older iPhone for a newer one. Do you think they're going to do this? Would it be better to leave it jailbroken and do a software unlock on my current one and sell it on craigslist?

Fourth. I TOLD MYSELF THAT I WOULDN'T BE TEMPTED TO UPGRADE BUT I TOTALLY AM.

I'd call Apple and see what they will do for you.

What's their return policy? I'd try to return it if it was only one week ago.

You would probably get slapped with a 15% restocking fee.

I'm pretty sure I read about a window of time for recent purchases which are upgraded. I really can't recall what that window was but it was probably on the very short side - 7 days or so.

    UPDATE!

Called apple customer service, was on the line for nearly an hour. Then I hung up.

Called an apple store. They said bring it in when they get the new line (tomorrow) and they;ll swap it out no extra fees. BUT, this applies to within 14 days. BUT, Gregory, the friendly apple guy said that they're going to extend it for some reason!!!

Can't wait for a 7 hour battery and backlit keyboard!

I'm in the same cituation as you m4rc...only I have to wait on hold cause there is no apple store near me. I'll let you know how they go about the exchange since worst case scenario is that I have to pay a restocking fee which will still be worth it since they are $100 cheaper now.

Also you might want to tell them that they are $100 cheaper and get a refund on top of the exchange...

And yes the 7hour battery is going to be amazing since the ~4 one is already mind blowing for me since I upgraded from an alienware with 40min battery life.

I calibrated mine yesterday and it lasted all afternoon. I was very impressed.

Technically, if they do charge a restocking fee (which I hope they don't) then $100 cheaper deal should cancel out the restocking fee.

Worst case scenario is that they charge the $1000 restocking and disregard the fact that the new line is cheaper.

Best case scenario is that they give you $100, don't charge a restocking fee and don't care if you give back the power wires and such!

    *$100 restocking fee*
