This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Time Machine - Restore only a few files to new machine?

    I'm wondering if it is possible to use Time Machine to restore only certain files to a new machine (for example, only emails or only itunes library or only a certain application)?

    Of course. From the new machine, open the sparsebundle containing the files you want to restore and copy them out.

    A .sparsebundle is the file that Time Machine backs up to. You can manually open it and copy files out of it.
