    Hi all

I'm thinking about Time Capsule - is it worth its cost?
    What model is the best?

i like the 1 TB if you have enough funds for it because you have a ton of space to store everything youll ever have on it.

Or you could get a 500GB Time Capsule and a 1TB external drive for cheaper. However, I've read some bad things about write speeds to the time capsule. I considered getting one but that turned me off. Considering how expensive it is I expect better performance. Although I think the time capsule is the only wireless disk that will work with time machine.

Time Machine is supposed to support any usb disk connected to an Airport Extreme or Time Capsule (internal or usb disk). I have the 500 gig model and I'm quite happy with it. I've had a few glitches but overall I like having a backup strategy I don't have to think about and it's never more than an hour old.

I bought an Airport Extreme Base Station and then an external USB drive instead of Time Capsule. The main reason for this is that your backup drive isn't then tied to your router. If you want to move your backup drive off site, your whole router has to come with it.

With an AEBS and external HD, you can upgrade the size of your HD at any time, and you can move your HD at any time without having to move your router.
