So after three years of waiting and waiting for upgrades on the MacBook, I finally went out and bought one a little over two weeks ago. I, of course, agonized over the decision and posted on the forum several times and got some good advice and opinions which I am very thankful for.

After using the MacBook Pro for a couple of weeks now, I love it. I went ahead and got iWorks 09 and AppleCare for it when I picked it up from the store (and a nice InCase sleeve, too). I've used Windows all my life and only played with my friends' Macs occasionally but I find the switch very manageable. I'm still getting use to finding myself around the OS but everything works well together so it never takes too long to figure something out.

I love the actual MBP too. It's sleek and the display is wonderful. I get a solid 5 hours of productivity from the battery which is WONDERFUL consider my battery from my old laptop got maybe 1 minute of charge (no joke). Not only is OSX easy to use but it's FUN to use as well, which is great. So, to everyone who helped me out by answering my questions here on the forum, thanks!

Maybe I have one more question for you guys: what do you like to do on your Mac that's just something FUN? Any applications or shortcuts or anything that you like to use just for the sake of using it whether it's to make something easier or purely for aesthetic reasons? For me, I really like pressing the "return" key to rename items quickly instead of right-clicking. I'm still working my way through the OS so any nifty little tricks would be great to know!

Hold Shift when pressing the expose or dashboard button. You can also hold shift and minimize windows for a cool effect.

One of the major things that have really impressed me in my short time with OSX so far has been the quick preview (press space when you have an image, pdf, mp3, etc highlighted) and it'll preview that file without opening any extra programs.

    Then again, I'm easily pleased.

Also a big thanks to this forum for helping me with my (rash) decision over new/old MBP's.

Does anyone have a good book suggestions re: OS X? I will probably wait until Snow Leopard arrives, but I'm mainly a Linux/Unix guy. So OS X will be somewhat familiar, but I could use a book with some explanation of how OS X differs. For example, where to look for devices that won't mount (/dev?). How to control services/apps via command line (i.e. services?).

I didn't know that, I use the corners of the touchpad to bring up Spaces and Expose.

I am playing around the the gestures, and they are so cool! I love the three and four finger gestures for internet browsing and accessing your desktop quickly.
