    All,

I have no experience of using Macs but I'm thinking of converting as I've heard such good things about them.

Could you help with some questions?

How easy is it to convert Mac OS to Vista?
Do you have to buy Vista separately?
Is Mac OS removed entirely? If you have both systems, won't that take up a lot of room?

Am I being ridiculous? Should I stay with Windows and buy a traditional 14' laptop like the new HP DV2500?

    Help...

    Nik

Yes. you have to buy Vista separately if you plan to upgrade from your current computer setup. First, make sure to run the Vista advisor found at MS website before doing so or you will throw and grind your vista DVD just like to fools in Youtube (2 minute vista install)... totally dumbs.

it's more wiser to buy a laptop with Vista pre-installed rather than buying one without and updgrade.

p.s. i really like the title of your post. lol. anyway, no one knows who's evil or not. the bad or good. they are both the same thing. it's the choices you make if you will be postive or negative... or both. ;)

    I suggest doing that.

It doesn't make sense to buy a computer, then have to load an OS you want onto it.

Just go with the Pavilion and it'll make your life easier in the long run, in my view.

    ;)

If you're going to use windows as your primary operating system I suggest getting a windows-native notebook to begin with.

If you plan on switching to OS X or at least using it more than half the time then go for it. If you think you will use Vista for the majority of the time and have OS X for fun, get the hp and a mini.

then take yourself out to dinner, and keep the change.

I'm not trying to be an Apple hater in any way... In fact the MacBook Pro is tied with the T61 as my top potential systems. I just wish the MacBook Pro wasn't so pricey.

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend getting a Mac if you want to run XP or Vista (I would highly recommend XP over Vista until at least SP 1). Really, the MBP/MB does not lend itself to running Windows very well natively. Primary problems are no delete key (has a backspace) and only 1 physical mouse button. I have an older version of bootcamp, so I dunno if the two finger right click works in Vista.
Anyway, I would recommend an IBM over an HP. But thats just MHO.

BTW, I used to be a major apple hater, until I sat down and gave the MBP an honest try.

you can delete by presseing fn+delete and two finger tap will get you right click menu.
