What is the cheapest way to buy a Macbook? I prefer stores like Amazon.com (which offers a $75 rebate btw) because I don't have to pay the horrendous 8.25% CA sales tax. While I can get a student discount from the Apple Store or a college store, the amount saved is greatly offset by sales tax. However, I've heard about this APP thing- does that mean I could potentially get the white 2.0ghz model for less than $1225?

I think the Apple notebook prices are pretty fixed, with only minimal variability. It's similar to the iPod prices. If there are drastic differences, then there must be a special going on.

You may want to consider the refurb store. There's usually a huge negative stigma associated with refurbished products, but Apple's tend to be a cut above the rest, and you essentially get a new notebook with no defects or abnormalities for a nice discount.
