I dont think this exist, it doesnt raison d´étre (reason to exist). The RMBP is already too close to what a mba 15 would be.

well I dont see the reason for the mbp 13 either

A 15" MBA doesn't exist and will likely never come out. As previously pointed out, the 2012 MBP with retina display is likely the incarnation of what Apple thinks is a 15" MBA. So don't hold your breath for that unicorn since it will likely never be seen.

after they killed off the 17" you can tell they aren't considered about screen size. Some people just want something like the Air with the same specs with a physically bigger screen, but Apple doesn't seem to think thats as important as keeping things simple, and just giving a good resolution on the 13.

I think one of the main reason's why the 13" MBP is still stuck with a low resolution is due to Apple's focus on the MBA. It's clear that Apple is moving towards the design of the MBA in general: no optical drive, thin chassis, SSD, etc. That was evident with the introduction of the retina display MBP as well as the much needed re-design of the MBA in 2010. The only thing the MBA was lacking in 2010, aside from a backlight keyboard, was the proper internals to compete with full fledged notebooks. Apple was able to fix that last year and even update them this year.

Either way, it looks like the MBA and retina MBP is where Apple wants to be with their notebooks. The 13" MBP is still laughably overpriced and the standard 15" MBP actually received a slight decrease in display resolution making people pay out $100 to receive something better. It looks like the MBA is going to remain the core (i.e. general) design of Apple's future notebooks. I'm actually surprised they didn't kill the 13" MBP all together.

I think they are going to reintroduce the mbp 13 in a retina variant when ML launches, I sure hope so. Sincerely there is no point to it right now.

A 13" MBP with a retina display similar to the current retina 15" MBP would be nice if Apple gave it other upgrades too such as a GPU and/or the option of a quad-core processor. I don't really see a need for any future 13" MBPs (in any form) if Apple is going to continue charging that much money for something that should at least have a quad-core processor. I know I would jump all over a 13" RMBP if it came with ~256GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and a quad-core processor for $1700. Until then, I don't see a reason why the 13" MBP exists as the 13" MBA is doing a much better job at occupying that space.

Give me a RMBP in a 13'' form factor, downgrade the gpu to a 640m and its one hell of a pc.

Apple would probably have to use a small tornado to cool a 640M+quad i7 in a 13" MBP Retina. Seeing how bad the 13" MBP fares on temps

    A 1GB 620M maybe?

But at that point it's getting marginal against just using the integrated graphics. Why bother with a complex graphics switching subsystem and extra graphics hardware for only a modest performance boost?

I figure this is why they don't use this is particular strategy already (I think we agree).

I would also be more concerned with the CPU over the GPU/IGP. The Intel HD 4000 would be more than adequate for everyday use along with photo and video editing. I also highly doubt anyone would buy a 13" notebook and hope for gaming abilities. Even with a lower end dedicated GPU, that thing would burn itself through a table when running a more modern game. Instead I think users would benefit much more with the inclusion of a quad-core option. The current 13' MBP's price already dictates that it should have a quad-core i7 in there. I hope Apple would take the time to include it in any 13" RMBP.

The 15" MacBook Air called 15" MacBook Pro with retina display.
It won't be another one to compete with it.

No kidding. The rMBP is actually thinner than the thickest point of the Air anyway...

In fact, they are similar enough that if what you want is a macbook air 15", you may be in danger of extreme satisfaction with a rmbp.
