My powerbook G4 will no longer start-up took it to the apple store and said it was kernel panicking and the HD was dead. Asked if i could start up in target disk mode and get back my data the apple 'genius' said i shud be able to do it. When starting up in target disk mode the target computer will not mount on the host, i've tried hotplugging and all. Using a program like filesalvage or datarescue the computer see's the target harddisk. When trying to explore or salvage/rescue the data the process will start i've gotten thru as much as 200mb of data before it stops. Audibly i hear the HD when it is searching and then after a bit the target HD goes quiet and the data recovery process freezes. Anyone have any clues on what to do? thanks a ton.
