HEy, I was daydreaming today and I thought of this random question. Is there any way to record TV programs from a digital cable box on to ur macbook pro for later viewing? I know theres DVD-Rs and stuff, but I dont have one of those for my TV. Any way to directly connect macbook pro to cable box and record shows? thanks

You'll need an external tv tuner device like elegato - check on Apple's site

Companies like Elgato, Hauppage and Formac sell external TV tuners that are Mac compatible. I believe most come with software that allows you to record (but don't quote me on that).

Hauppage is the biggest name in tv recorders, imo. It'll probably be more pain than what it's worth...especially if you are used to TIVO and you are forced to use an irblaster.
