    Hey guys,

I have setup my University Student email account (POP3) using the MAIL app on my macbook air, iPhone and macbook pro.

I have come across a small hitch - Basically, when I receive a specific email it only appears on the computer that I used to open it at first, but not on my other computer or even my iPhone. SO basically, is there a way of setting up the MAIL app in such a way so that emails can appear on both of my computers?

Hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

setup everything using IMAP and not pop3 on all devices is the easiest.

THank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the University server only allows POP3 for the time being and has not provided any IMAP settings.

Also, if its any help - i have ticked off the option of removing the mail from server option from my MAIL app. However, when I enabled this option even though i received an email on MAIL that specific email still remained on the actual server

Why not set up a gmail account. It supports IMAP. Just have your university account forward all your mail to gmail. You can also set up your outgoing mail server to use gmail, so your sent mails will be synced too.

What I do is have the mail stay on the server for 30 days, or any set time. Then when you connect with a different computer it will see the mail as new. Thunderbird allows this been doing it for years this way.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it didn't work.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will use the mail forwarding option to gmail to make it work. Thanks again :D. Appreciate it

I set my email clients to leave the mail on the server. That way the email gets a chance to make it onto all of my devices when they do their fetch from the server.

I've also setup my various email clients so that when I delete from the email client it also deletes that email from the server too. Knowing how that is setup, I am aware that if I delete an email from one device before my other devices or laptop at home has had a chance to poll for that new mail from the server, then those other devices/laptop won't get that email.

My email clients can also see when an email is deleted from the server. The client will see that the email has been deleted from the server and it will then delete that email from the device/laptop.

that setup is how I keep my email synchronized.
