Alright so I just want to know if I should be worried or not about this:

Lately, when I open the lid, the drive starts "moaning". You know that sound as if you just inserted a CD or DVD into it. It does it three times with a couple of seconds gap in between.

It still reads just fine, I just tried it with a DVD, but I'm still concerned about the sound.

Usually there is just a small and short sound when opening the lid, just like when booting up, when (as much as I can figure) the head realigns to center.

    Anyone?

    Cheers!

Chances are your superdrive might be slowly dying. If you still have lots of warranty left, then I wouldn't worry too much about it. Otherwise, give AppleCare a call.

Thanks guys. My initial one year warranty expires sometime in October '09.

I will get the Apple Care first chance I get though.

So the initial warranty should cover this?

Yep, Cdnalsi, you should be ok unless any other symptoms start to occur. ;) In that case, you might want to call AppleCare. ;)

Thanks guys, it kind of stopped doing it now. It's really weird.

I will call Apple though, just to be on the safe side.

On the other hand, I can't give my computer away for repairs just yet. Maybe walk in a store and see if they can fix it in a couple of hours.

    I can't be without a computer for a week...
