    Hi,
I'm recently doing a lot of video editing stuff so...

I burned a video file to a CD and tried to play it off the CD to test it, but the read speed is so slow that it keeps on lagging. And when I try to copy the file back to disk (me and my paranoid testing), it also says its gonna take like 2 minutes even though its only ~160MB.

And when I'm importing a CD into iTunes, it won't go much faster than like 8x.

Is this normal? I'm plugged into the wall if that makes any difference. I ask especially because the rated read speed according to the Apple website is 24x.

Have you tried the CD on other computers? Perhaps it's a faulty disc.

Well I mean, the video CD and the audio CD are two totally different CDs, and the audio CD I've imported into iTunes just dandy before and the video CD should be just fine as well considering I just burned it. . .

Try it out in a different computer, or a different OS just to be sure.

Just tried the video CD on my desktop - it took 45-50 seconds to copy, and considering it can read at 48x, I suppose that's about right? Is it? And the desktop can play the video file off the CD with very little stuttering/lag (there is still some though).

And this is the second time this slow read thing's happened to me, which is why I ask. . . I mean maybe I just never noticed before, dunno.

That still wouldnt explain the 8x import of the audio CD though . . .

It can play DVDs and audio CDs just fine though... nothing to worry about?

What format is the video file on the CD in? If the superdrive can play other discs fine, then it's probably not the drive that's causing the slowdowns. Could be a video codec problem or something.

It's a Quicktime NTSC DV .mov file, encoded by Adobe Media Encoder CS4.
