The superdrive in my white macbook does not work anymore.
When a disc is inserted (CD/DVD) I can hear the disk load and then spin round for a few times as if the macbook is trying to read the disk, but then it just ejects the disc?
I took my macbook to a mac repair guy and he didn't know what was wrong with it, he just suggested I get a new drive installed, however after scouring the web it seems this is a common problem with my drive (MATADVD-R UJ-8570).

Has anyone on these forums got an idea or know of a solution to this problem?

Have you tried cleaning the surface of the disc? Is it a compatible format? These are long shots, but still worth checking.

I have tried installing new firmware, have tried different disks and have tried disk cleaners, nothing works. Have now ordered a replacement superdrive off ebay.
