I really don't think I need the SuperDrive, but if something comes up and I need to burn a DVD can I just buy an external one and connect it via USB or firewire? I'm sure I can but just thought I would check.

Also, I plan on just getting the standard 60GB HD at first, and when its time to upgrade can i just switch all my old stuff onto my new bigger hard drive?

Yes and yes! When you get your new hard drive, I would recommend buying an external enclosure for your old drive. Makes an excellent backup device.

I know that the internal drive is expensive (the dvd one that is) but i'd say go get it. If you're not at your home, you either can't burn the dvd or you have to lug your dvd burner with you. Not sure if that would be abig deal for you, but it certainly would be for me.
The price may be worth the convenience... But yeah, external drives will work well.
