Does backing up my Mac to a Lacie device with Super Duper render said device usless for storing additional info?

I have created a backup that i can boot from - Great.

I am unsure if I can continue to use the external device for storage.

    Can anyone advise?

It should not make any changes to the external drive, just add the file that was created during the backup process, which will be fairly large depending on how much data is being backed up to it. The drive should be able to be used as normal for other storage.

you might want to make a partition on the drive for just the backup
