Okay so how do you go about uninstalling applications from your Mac completely. Is it really as easy as going to the application and right clicking it then hitting delete? I'm used to going to control panel, then add/remove programs but Apple has nothing like this. I'm just wondering if there is any uninstall option besides just hitting delete?

No, actually, uninstalling an application is usually as easy as dragging the application to the Trash. Yes, that easy.

However, sometimes that leaves some useless files hanging around the Documents or somewhere. They are harmless and won't distract you if you just leave it there, but they do take up space. I like to use a free application called AppDelete, where you just drag an application to AppDelete and it will uninstall the application and its associated files.

    Here's a link to AppDelete: http://www.reggie.ashworth.googlepages.com/appdelete

Alright thanks that helps a lot. I just moved some programs from the hard drive on my Mac to an external HD and then uninstalled the programs on the Mac. Just like you said, I found some annoying documents and what not hanging around and I wondered if the programs were actually fully deleted.

I never knew that, that is insanely easy. If I can afford it, my next laptop will be a macbook pro for sure.

Installing an app is even nicer. Just open the .dmg and drag the .app file into a folder of your choice. The way OS X handles applications and windows is just so much better than Windows.

I don't use uninstall software. After dragging application to trash I check for and delete it's preferences file, found I think in your home (user) file/library/preferences.

I'm getting pretty close to that line of thinking myself. If I hadn't bought my Dell D420, I'd be tempted. ;)
