My sister just got a new 13in Macbook Pro. It's a beautiful machine.
I want to put some software on it to help her with school. I was really hoping for something that would allow her to plug in her grades and their weight so she could track her grade in her various courses. Also, organizers and to-do programs to keep track on homework assignments and classes...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really don't know anything about Mac OS... :)

Grades and Weight? I'm not familiar with the "weight" term in relation to grades. Shows how long I've been outta school. :) . But from your description it sounds like the common spread sheet program can handle this. You can try out Apple's iWork on the Mac App Store. Price is great. Comes with a great word processor and presentation (powerpoint-type) program and a basic spread sheet called Numbers. Or you can get Microsoft Office 2011 Home and Student edition for Mac.

I think he means how they weight grades when putting them into the final grades. For example if Homework is worth 10% and you got a 700/1000 on the homework and Tests are worth 90% of your grade and you got a 100/100 on those then your final grade is a 97% because of the weight and not a 72%.

I would recommend iProcrastinate its a good app for managing scheduling and assignments. You can group assignments by class and set up a good schedule for yourself using the app. It also reminds you when things are due. Its free on the app store. I think it also has a way to keep track of grades and how you weigh them. However I think most Universities tell you your grade on the internet these days.

You can try Evernote too I've heard good things about it.

I would advise on the office 2011, since most people use it, and compatibility is always one strong thing.

I have downloaded the iprocrastinate, its indeed one good app.

I do use ical for task management and excel for calculating the grades and their weight.
