    Hi all,

I don't use my macbooks' combo drive much. Acutally, I'd say this is the first time I intend to burn a cd with it since I got it nine months ago. The thing is that when I tried today, I couldn't because the recorder says the disc has only 96.6mb of free space, which is insane as the cd's are brand new! (TDK 800mb). I'm totally lost and I've got no idea how to fix it. I tried with Toast 7 and Toast 8 and same problem, so I guess there something else...

    Any idea?

    Thanks!

Did you try another disc? Sometimes a blank cd can have a manufacturing error that causes them to show up with incorrect data sizes. I had a whole spindle do that to me once(checked in on like 10 computers). Try a couple more CD's and let us know if the problem persists.

Alternatively, if it's a 99 minute/900MB CD-R, then it may not read/write correctly, because it involves overburning(much like dual layer DVDs) which is generally unreliable. If you have to use CD-R99, then you'll have to get a SuperDrive.

I tried two discs and they're 800 mb. I don't know what the problem can be.

Regular CDs are 700mb, so that could be your problem.

They're new and just cd-r. My girlfriend can burn them normally with her Macbook.

Still no clue. It's weird. I'm trying to discard a hardware problem.

    Cheers

Looks like your combo has either a problem that require a firmware update or you may need to tryout a different burn software. Are copying content from 1 cd to another? Creating a dupe?

I've got the same problem as with Toast when trying to burn directly from the finder by creating a burning folder, it simply says there's not enough space in the disc. I'm not gonna panic till I try with other brand of cd's, but this is weird.
