    Hi again.

Ever since I got the 2011 15" with all the trimmings, my friends have caught the upgrade bug.

So i'm wondering what kind of laptops are out there right now in a ~15" chasis, that will match or beat the performance of the 2.3Ghz 15" MBP 2011?

This means I'm talking bootcamp. This means I'm talking gaming. This means I'm not talking perceived build quality. This isn't a conversation about "un-optimized" this this or that.

I just want to know what kind of performance parallels we can figure out for other laptops, straight up clock/clock, frame rate / frame rate.

I'm really interested in a good honest bootcamped comparison of currents laptops.

My envy14 F.23 i7-720qm radiance ssd gets similar but lower fps in all games than my new mbp. ~7600 3dmark06 vs. ~10000. So I can safely say the MBP is a better gaming laptop than the Envy14.

I'm sure there are some closer newest generation laptops that people know about that are close matches to the MBP. I would like to know what they are.

    tia!

There are now plenty of 15" notebooks that either come close to the 15" MBP's performance or surpass it. The Dell XPS 15, Alienware M15x, HP has a 15" metal Pavilion notebook, and so on. Pretty much any notebook running the same CPU as the MBP can be compared.

Yeah, I was especially looking forward to the next refresh of the sony z. I wonder if that will handle gaming as well as this one.

Right now the ultimate 15" in terms of gaming has to be the Clevo P150HM. It will blow the doors off the MBP with better CPU options and the Geforce 485M or AMD 6970M. The one performance aspect that the MBP has over the Clevo is the Thunderbolt port for better I/O performance and the possibility of a DIY Vidock through it.

That and the battery life. We all know that there isn't a single 15" gaming notebook on the market that could go for more than 5 hours on a single charge. Then again, they weren't designed for that anyway.

Not talking about the trackpad, battery life, Mac OS X, or build, there are many 15" laptops around $1000-1700 that has better performance than the 15" MBP.

    HP DV6T with ATI 6770M
    ASUS G53SW with GTX 460M
    MSI GT680R with GTX 460M
    Sager NP8130 with GTX 460M
    Sager NP8150 with GTX460M/485M/ATI 6970M
    Etc..................................

There is actually a 17" laptop that can last 3-5 hours on a single charge.
Alienware M17x R3 can do that.

The Sager NP8150 is the best 15inch laptop right now if what you want is performance. Put a GTX 485M/ATI 6970M in there and you are talking about 100%+ better gaming performance than the ATI 6750M.

Sony Z is a premium lightweight ultraportable. It weights 3.0 lbs. It holds its own, but why would you expect it to compete with 15" gaming laptops that weigh twice as much?
