I heard. their stocks are going down the tubes tomorrow.
-

-
-
Flash on iPad-iPhone is now inevitable.
-
-
uggh i hate how everyone is talking as if he died @_@
sure hope cooks is up to the job -
He just mentioned an interesting bit of info, the same info I posted on the similar thread in the OT section. -
-
We don't all have to post, "get well soon stevie, luv ya".
We aren't concerned with the price of Apple stock, we just think it's interesting.
I just hate the hate in you replies -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
Sincerely it was expected for quite some time. Cook is running the company for awhile now. example of this is the more active participation of Cook in apple events. He is a quite capable man, although lacks the same amount of charisma that Jobs has.
Their stocks will fall, however it wont be as drastic as people believe. -
Not a surprising move, though, and it's been a long time coming. Jobs was a controversial figure, no doubt, but he did also personally bring about some great advances in the industry (use of the mouse, development of the mobile all-in-one device, etc).
Conversely, though, I think many (including many shareholders) also exaggerate his role in Apple's current development: frankly, I'd be far more pessimistic about Apple's prospects if, say, Jonathan Ive resigned. I would expect that Apple's shares will return to their original price within a few days. -
I think he might still be very effective as Chairman; still running things and directing the vision of the company, and Tim can do the day to day stuff as he's already proven he can.
IMO, there's nothing in this decision that makes me question the future of the company. And as already mentioned, this has been decided a long time ago, it's just official now. -

This. Changes. Everything.
All kidding aside, this seems is has to do something with his health. His biography is coming out sooner so that says something. Even though I don't really like him much, hope he gets better from his cancer. -

Guys, keep it on topic about Steve Jobs and his "departure" from CEO title of Apple.
And Apple won't falter, they will keep on doing their own thing and make loads of money with or without him. -

Jobs has been "overseeing" things for a while now with having a decreased amount of input. iOS has been surviving pretty much on its own without Jobs and Lion was mostly handled by other people. There is no doubt that Steve took Apple from nothing and turned it back into a successful company but he has been distancing himself from the actual development for a while now.
Either way, I hope he gets better (health wise) and Apple will definitely keep on doing their Apple thing. Steve started this colossal train and his departure as CEO won't be enough to derail it. -
CNN posted a really nice Timeline on the contributions of Steve Jobs. I remember buying a Snow iMac, thought they looked so cool and way ahead of their time and Apple suing eMachine for copying their design.

Flash barely runs on OS X, and you think iOS + ARM is going to run? Have fun..
-
Flash runs fine on OS X as per my experience. How would I use files from the net then?
-
I feel completely indifferent to Flash. If it comes, great, if not well....great.
In any case, I can't see Steve's move from CEO to Chairman to be some kind of indication that all of the sudden Flash will arrive on iOS devices. But who knows. -
-
I absolutely agree with Steve on this one. I was cheering him on. I have a personal disdain for Flash as he does and hopefully HTML5 will do the trick but Flash is bloated and buggy and most websites require it. I'm to the point 90% of the time I turn Javascript off so as not to put up with the nonsense.
-
apple should have removable GPU and MXM cards!!!
i really wonder why though -
1.) "Flash barely works on dah OSX...(lol @ iOS devices being capable of running it)"
2.) "LoL, when you want to do REAL WORK, yah bettah get a PC laptop cuz yer Mac is gonna melt."
That's basically the gist, right? 2 bullsh*t posts for no apparent reason. Judging by your sig, you don't own a Mac laptop so through who's experiences do you pontificate?
How many Mac owners do you see posting here saying, "hey guys, I can't seem to get real sh*t done...I think it's because it's a Mac, which is a toy emirate?" None? Okay then. So why not troll elsewhere? Thinkpad forums, perhaps? I'd assume your general ignorance would be well-appreciated there. Leave the Apple forums to people who give a damn about Apple and have a clue what they're talking about.
Mac owners are getting their sh*t done, shocking as it may be to someone as simple-minded as you. and believe it or not, iOS devices are more than capable (power) of running Flash. The problem--as it has always been--is Adobe. They still suck and that probably won't' change anytime soon. -
-
maybe offtopic, but seeing Steve Jobs Post-Resignation is making me upset. First, it's the end of a man who revolutionized personal computing and essentially resurrected Apple into the empire it is today; and second, granted TMZ is the gossip-net of America, but can we give those who are essentially in hospice DIGNITY before they go?
-
Although I agree with your post, I would not link to TMZ. No reason to give them a little more publicity over this.

1) Flash sucks, period. It sucks on Windows, it sucks even worse on OS X. My friend's 2006 Core Duo Macbook did not run Flash well, but it ran Silverlight just fine, maybe the reason why Youtube is going away from Flash.
2) There are plenty of articles online that show the bad overheating issues MBP (and with it,unibody) has. i7 dual core hit 100C+, and I've personally seen it. It's always been a crappy design, no way for cool air to go through the cooling system. And trust me, I've probably fixed 100+ overheating MacBook Pro's at my work. Sorry if your MBP melts due to overheating, not much work can be done. And no, I didn't say all Apple products can't do work, that's why they invented the Mac Pro (which I use maybe 3-4 times a day at my workplace).
3) No super large corporation uses MBP as the main workhorse, what do you know it is Dell, Lenovo and HP. Apple = prosumer, except for Mac Pro and now defunct XServe. -

Whilst I was not a fan of a lot of decisions SJ made, he made a huge contribution to the industry. And he's not gone, he'll still be keeping an eye on what's going on.
