I picked up a standard windows keyboard and have it hooked into my macbook.

F9 - F12 works fine. All the keys before that do not work. I do not see where the option is to change this in the keyboard settings either.

I'm guessing we're talking about use in OSX?

Because typically f1-f9/10 are keyboard shortcuts for volume etc. They dont really have much use outside of that in OSX, atleast I've never come across them except in games.

I think theirs an option in the keyboard pref pane to set it, but not 100% sure.

System Prefs>Keyboard and check/uncheck the box stating Use F1, F2... depending on what you want the keys to do.

I tried that both ways but they don't seem to work. Also a standard windows keyboard does not have an fn key.
