I had a MBP on order, but ended up canceling it because I thought I would like to get the 200 gig hard drive. I need to run both Bootcamp and Parallels for my Windows apps.
I'm thinking of partitioning the hard drive 100 gig for OS X and 100 gig for Windows, then running Parallels on the OS X partition.
The specs for the 200 gig says 4200 rpm, but I thought I read somewhere that it was one of the new formats (vertical, I think) and it would be able to deliver the same performance as the 5400 rpm drives.
Anyone got any solid info on this?

Maybe this will help:

Interesting to note when the 7200 and 5400 hard drives get fuller they become slower compared to the 200 gig HD, so the 200 may not be a bad choice at all. -
Sorry if this sound ignorant of me, but how come a drive running at 7200 or 5400 would become slower as it gets filled-up as opposed to the 200GB drive? What has the speed vs. capacity got to do with this?

OK, that was a nice article and fair to point out that the 200GB catches-up on speed as it gets filled-up. Still, I don’t understand the physics behind this. How is this possible?

Go through the different tests and you'll see where abouts the performance lies:

Specs on the 200 gig drive?
