So I read an excellent review on the Speck Products see-thru case for the MBP (here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=90708), and it convinced me to go ahead and make the purchase. I'm glad I did. The quality of this product is excellent; fitment is perfect and it gives my 17" MBP the color I was looking for: black. The only downsides that I've seen so far is its added weight (not back breaking, but noticeable) and the smudges left behind by fingerprints (good thing it shipped with a micro-fiber cloth for cleaning). All in all, though, I'm happy with the purchase. Shipping was fast (was in the mail and had a tracking number a couple hours after submitting the order) and it was here in just a few days from Cali. Here's a few quick pics:

Nice dude! Thanks for the brief review, I am definitely going to be looking into some sort of protection when I get my MBP and this looks good. Let us know how it goes, eh?

The case only covers the outside; doesnt do anything when the MBP is opened. This is the best that I have for right now:

Heh they have clear ones, and other colours.

As for scratching, it does happen. Basically dirt/dust/whatever, gets inbetween the case and the mbp, and then it cant go anywhere, so it just rubs up against the mbp, and you might get a scratch/pit.

It does happen, but its not horrible, and I take my case off, every now and again to clean it out. Interesting note, it only seems to happen on the bottom, and not the top.

But the pros way outweigh the cons, because my speck case has taken a lot of scratches and bangs (the life of a student), and I'm happy I have it and the scratches go on it, and not the mbp : D

And yea, that extra little bit of weight is a bit annoying, but you get used to it.
