So, looks like new SR iMacs are coming soon. What do you guys think about the mac mini? It's long overdue for an update, is it possible they'll do it at the same time? I've also heard rumors that the mac mini will be canceled.
In the case of a cancellation of the Mac Mini, what is apple's usual deal on discontinued merchandise, if they even sell it?

New iMacs almost for sure. Not sure about new Mac Minis though...I don't see how Apple will discontinue this unless the iMac is significantly lowered, or Apple releases something to replace the Mac Mini, but there's been no indication in the production line of a brand new Mac line.
There's a possibility of new iWork and iLife as well. Apple's website yesterday made a "Quick Tip" about using Keynote '08 with the Apple Remote, which was quickly pulled but its interesting that there was even this typo. Apple never refers to its programs by year; the current version of Keynote known as Keynote 3, not as Keynote '06. So I don't see how this could've been a typo unless someone at Apple really didn't know what he/she was doing.
And this Special Event is supposed to be Mac-focused, so don't expect new iPods to be announced here. I think another Special Event will happen in September or October and new iPods will be announced then. -
I'd probably put money on new iWork and iLife

all bets on new iMacs and a firm leopard release date. iWork and iLife 08 will ship at the same time, possibly with leopard.

I think it's a bit late for a boost up to Santa Rosa. The Mac desktop range is long due for an update, but with Peryn just around the corner, I would expect Apple to wait a bit longer and then do a huge update and skip Santa Rosa.
Oh well, maybe Apple wants to increase its update frequency or they think the consumer market will be satisfied with Santa Rosa. -

back to school season.
a 12.1" macbook pro? -
Santa Rosa is a laptop platform...what does it have to do with the iMac?

I already read this news before, I think that this mac keyboard is pretty cute.

Thanks.
I'd rather just have the MBP then -
Thats what i never understood about the iMacs... they are not as powerful because they use the laptop cores... yet they are quite spendy for desktop setups. The mac mini of course I understood because that form factor seemed to justify switching to laptop cores. Probably just personal preference from a tower guy who just can't afford the MacPros
