In case anyone is interested, I took a few pics of the new 17"MBP. My gosh it's the most beautiful and surprisingly lightweight machine I've seen. It's incredibly fast. This model was configured with the 2.93Ghz processor and 256GB SSD. It was so fast it launched iTunes 1 second with many apps currently running. It was a bit warm but that's understandable with so many apps running. There were no models with the anti-glare on the show floor. The screen bezel is much thinner than the 15".

no doubt a very powerful machine. If only they can make it hybrid SLI.

Btw how much for that configuration with 256 SSD?

I'm not sure, they didn't have any prices set up there. On the Apple online store it configures at $3999 U.S. That's a lot of cash but it was REALLY fast.

:D thanks for sharing. It's really beautiful, new, and I'll bet big $ but I'm sure it's got power and will get the job done.
    Nice.

4k huh? Wow. Though, I might get it if I had that kind of money laying around. Thanks for the photos, as usual the aluminum MB/P's are stunning.

I want one, but my wife gave me an ultimatum: she said if I get it, that means I cant do any modifications to my motorcycle. And since I cant ride around on a bone stock motorcycle...I'm going to hold off until next year on upgrading my 17

The viewing angle, vertical/horizontal was great but when I go back to Macworld today I will compare both the 15 and 17 side by side.

Nice pictures, HLdan! However the screen bezel looks to be about the same thickness in comparison to the 15-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2008), at least to my eyes. It really is a beautiful machine.

Did you get to try out the features in iLife '09? I'm curious to see how much of an improvement it is over iLife '08, I'm thinking of upgrading my software in one fell swoop )when Snow Leopard is released if they update the Mac Box Set, as I use Leopard/iLife '08/iWork '08 right now.

Hmm, you may be right about the screen bezel, certainly seems thinner than the 15". I didn't try iLife 09 because it's so much going on at Macworld. I did play with iWork and that's a definite plus and I am upgrading my current iWork 08 for it.

Sorry, I made a slight error. I mentioned that there were no "matte" versions at the show, there was one and I took pics of it. It is indeed "True Matte" just like the previous 17". I will upload pics of the glossy and matte 17" side by side later tonight.

I said I was going to wait until Snow Leopard :p I'd imagine they will update the Mac Box Set with Snow Leopard on its release.

Really? Every single thread? Really. . ?

Not necessarily, soon is a very relative term here.

I absolutely don't need to upgrade my machine, but I want to more and more every day. It is just amazing because the machine I have now is absolutely phenomenal, but this one just blows it out of the water.

That's for sure! The only thing that would make it better if it had an IPS screen, if you truly wanted a video editor's machine.
