After having my new 13" mbp from 2 weeks I have found some must have software for me and thought I would share. I had a lot of music on my windows desktop that I wanted to put on my mbp. The issues is most of the music is in wma format. Itunes won't play wma. There is a plug in for Quicktime but its not that great. I did some research and installed VLC last night and have to say I love it. It will play .wma with out a problem and I can actually select all the songs in the folder and hit open just like I could in windows media player. If I tried that with the quicktime plug in it would open 16 different quicktime windows with one song in each window. Second I have a bunch of photos I put on my mbp. Preview is ok but I liked how in windows I could open one photo in a folder and then just go through all of them without having to select all and then select open. With Xee I can now do that. I open one photo in the folder and can look at all of them without having to select open all or anything like that. Makes for a much better experience then preview. Third I have a Hauppauge WinTV 950 that I used with my old dell laptop when I was at work to watch tv. I found that there is a program for mac called EyeTV. Bought it and installed it last night works great and much better then the software I had on my Dell. Fourth thing I put on all my computers is open office. I'm having lots of fun with this MBP and Mac OS. I will put windows on my MBP eventually but only to play some old games when on the go.

I just hit the space bar for quick look on a photo (or any other document) then use the arrow keys to move through the files in finder.. and the quick look window will change to whatever is highlighted rather quickly.

EyeTV is very good... I've been using it a few years
