I've decided to make the switch for laptops. I'm going to order a Macbook Pro 13" 2.66ghz, but am very new to Mac. Do they upgrade their laptops when a new OS is released? Or do they upgrade them the same time as iPod's, which I follow. I don't need the laptop right now and can wait a month or two for when Snow Leopard is released.

All Macs will come with Snow Leopard after it has been officially released (sometime in September). If you order a Mac now, you can get Snow Leopard for $10 when it ships.

as for upgrading hardware.. you never know, it could be anytime. They used to do it on a schedule, now they just kind of surprise people.

There could be new models out with Snow Leopard, or it could be the exact same ones just with Snow Leopard installed.

Well, I kind of doubt that they would upgrade their MBP line before the mobile nehalems are available, there is just no point in it since the current mobile architecture has really been milked to death.

Its a joke that the performance difference between the 13" processor and the 17" is barely noticeable.

My expectations are that they will get updated in the beginning of the next year. But its a guessing game anyways, who knows.

The thing I'm hoping for most though with a new revision is Apple changing graphics provider to ATi or hopefully Intel if they get something good out on the market.

I just despise nvidia and they're crap quality products. I just got my seventh unibody sent in for repairs because my logicboard the 9400m has started failing.

I haven't had a problem with my mbp yet, hopefully I won't, as I'll have to travel to the US for repairs most likely, no Apple certified repair thingers here :p
