I have a late 2010 MBP 13''. I remember when I got it would boot really quickly. With time it got to boot slower and slower. I thought this was okay because my HDD was getting full.

But today I did a clean install of Lion and the boot time is atrocious. It takes about 2 minutes on a clean install.

Plus now, my battery life is real crappy (about 4-5 hours standard usage, versus 7-8 before).

Does that seem to be common with Lion?

Clean install as deleting the partition? If you did not thoroughly wipe it using a program like DBAN (Dariks Boot and Nuke) there may have been left over files.

Of course the files are still there, it's a quick format. If that's causing a performance issue on OS X, I think I'll call Apple and ask them why Lion is "the most advanced OS".
Windows' been playing fine with this for 10 years.

You mentioned that your hard drive was getting full. How much free space do you have?

It had about 20GB left. But I did a clean install and repartionned the whole drive. This isn't my main computer so I didn't have anything important to backup and restore
