Anyone use it? My computer runs anywhere from 68 C - 78 C. This includes running Fire Fox. Is this normal?

Right now I'm running Webkit, iTunes, Skype and Adium and I'm right around 60 degrees celsius with the fans at 2000 rpm.

Are you doing a video chat on skype or just letting it run?

I have been using the iAntivirus and a couple of times over the last few days it has had my cpu to 95% for no reason, I did a search and it is a know issue without a fix, most people say an anti-virus on a mac is not needed but after 25 years of pc`s it`s a hard habit to break.

I've been running various Macs since May of last year when I switched, none of which have ever run Anti-virus software. You just don't need it.

I've got a Skype video chat open, aMSN Mennenger, Transmission and Firefox running. My temperature is at 66 but it sometimes does go up to mid 70s. Sounds normal to me.

sorry if im bringing back a old thread, but i was on skype last night, and my mac was burning hot. i couldn't stand the heat.

I had to overirde the fans to 90% to cool it down. + the aluminium spreads the heat.

Heat is one of many problems when I use Skype on my new Macbook Pro. It gets quite hot especially when using a video conference call. On regular pc's t doesn't get nearly as hot. The other problem when using SKYPE with a macbook is that it always cuts off when making international calls or video calls.

I could have mine hanging in the air and it would still get hot if I open Skype and I'm using a SSD as well. Generally it runs warm but turn on SKYPE and start a video call or voice call and the headaches begin from running hot to constantly cutting off.

I just picked up a notebook cooler with 3 60mm fans, the thing is that i have a speck cover on it, so i wonder how well the fans will cool it.
