Recently I've been having a bit of trouble with Skype on my new 2.2ghz MBP.
Um, it doesn't seem to open. I'll open Skype, it'll appear on my dock, do a few bounces and then disappear without a trace. I've no idea what's causing it, it only started doing it the past few days. If I remove it from the Applications folder and then reinstall it, it works fine, but if I exit it and try to open it again, it will disappear from the dock once again. Any ideas?
    Using OS X Leopard.

Try repairing disk permissions, it might help. Not sure if your issue is even related to that, but it doesn't hurt to try :).

Go to Disk Utility, select your hard drive and press Repair Disk Permissions.

And of course, here's an important question to ask: did you restart your Mac, and see if there was any difference?

Well it has been happening the past few days and I do shut it down each night, and it doesn't seem to fix it.
I'll try reparing the disk permissions now, hopefully it'll fix it.

Hmm, no luck there. I repaired the disk permissions and did a reboot for good measure, but no change in what Skype is doing. Any other suggestions? :(
EDIT: Aha, found the reason. Google ftw.

Apparantly Skype on Leopard has a problem with the built in firewall, and will only run once after it has been enabled. Makes sense, since I only found the firewall not long ago and I noticed the Skype problems about then. Hopefully they'll fix this problem soon! Till then I guess I'll just disable the firewall when I need to go on Skype.

The cause is Leopard. I am having the same problem ever since I upgraded to Leopard.
