I loaded XP on my MBP no problem with bootcamp. However, after loading the drivers, I now have all these resolutions available in the display settings menu that are above the resolution of my display. Is that normal?

    Thanks!

Yes it can but it depends on the driver capability for example my old hp with 1024x768screen (i8020-something chipset for integrated vga)could therefore display a piece of a desktop 1280x1024 so when I moved my mouse cursor the desktop moved with it in the same direction until I met the end of the desktop. I don't know how to explain it in other words ;). (It's like looking through a window)
But yes i've seen it before also the screen should be protected if you want to try (it will be out of range for 15 sec if not supported). Remember if you do and fails it will turn back after 15secs from black. But only if you press 'apply' not 'OK' this so you know it will return from black to previous setting in 15 secs. On the other hand you don't have to try ... :D

So since I accidently set the resolution for something higher than the screen could produce, does that mean that I damaged the screen? I switched it right back afterwards.

No that will not damage your screen. No worries.

You should just see a portion of the full resolution.

Kinda like a peering at the desktop through a window.

I don't know if my explanation makes any sense...
