Normally when I shut power off my MacBook Pro, it takes about 4-5 seconds and then its off. Since I installed VMware Fusion yesterday, it takes about 1 minute to power off. What is going on? I read somewhere that when you quit a virtual machine you need to choose "kill all" to stop any background processes. How do I do this or is this just normal.

I don't know which version your using, but in one of them you have to hold the alt(option) key in the Virtual Machine menu and it switches the Shut Down Guest button to Power Off. This should completely shutdown the VM and take care of all the extra background processes. Hope this helps!

I have version 2.0 of VMware Fusion. At MacMall you can buy version 1.1 and upgrade to Version 2.0 free using the VMware website. Version 1.1 cost 34.99.

Well are you closing VMware first? Just clicking the exit button does not close VMware.
Do it this way -
Yes, I quit VMware Fusion before powering off my computer. Does your Mac take a long time to shutdown?

That's interesting. my mbp takes close to 2 minutes to power off each time, and I have VMWare 2 installed. I've had it installed a while, and my mbp's been taking this long to shut down as long as I can remember. I'll try uninstalling it and seeing if that's the cause of the long shut down time.

With all programs closed it takes 3-4 ish seconds to shut down.
Shutdown Time Increased Since Installing VMware Fusion
