I've been looking around for a laptop, and the macbook pro looks very attractive to me, by the fact I love any desktop with a "unix-like" or similar look to it. Anyways, my question is, should I buy a macbook pro, should I wait for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard?

Depends on whether you need a new machine enough to buy now. If not, wait.

I think that if you are not in a hurry, you can wait for leopard. that way the OS is much better than tiger

I would not worry about waiting. It is highly unlikely that they will update the MBP between now and then and Leopard is not going to be very expensive, and will run great on any current Mac.

Yeah, I believe it will be $69 with student discounts. That's not expensive, especially comparing to Windows.

Well---The new Intel Penryn processor comes out in around October/November supposedly, so I will probably wait, Penryn is a 45nm version of the current core 2 duos, with a much better version of Santa Rosa supposedly... It will be the same TDP, but it should be able to clock over 3.0GHz, maybe even faster!

if you need it now, get it now.

need it later? wait it out.

don't feel that if you need it now, you should suffer through waiting to get it later.

edit: by the way, what do you mean by "unix-like look"?

unix is the foundation of mac osx, but as far as the visuals, the unix part is completely hidden. there's a whole graphical interface on top of it - which i might add is way ahead of its time.

Well, I wouldn't call Aqua ahead of its time - it's how computer GUIs *should* look in this day and age. Microsoft's design team is just behind. And most Linux distros obstinately refuse to acknowledge the importance - and necessity - of eye candy out of the box. Their loss.

I've used Linux, and Windows, I really would like to use Mac, I will probably wait it out, I plan on getting a cheap 500 dollar laptop to do me over 'till I can get a mac. =P

Merely an estimation, I do know that is around the time-frame the Penryn "should" come out. I heard around Q3 of this year.

Penryn is scheduled late this year, but it may be January before we see them in Macs. Also, keep in mind all the hype for Santa Rosa, and what ended up being the biggest improvements to the new MBP, the screen and GPU. Neither of those have anything to do with Santa Rosa. Penryn will be a great chip, and very fast, but don't get caught up in the hype. Only the most demanding, high-end applications will utilize it, and I would venture to say there are very few here who fall in that category.
