Should I buy a Macbook now (w/ Tiger) or wait?

I have an opportunity at buying an Apple MacBook 2.16GHz (in White), 1 GB and 120GB HD for $1220+tax (comes to a little under $1400 including all taxes, no Applecare). It on sale at the moment and comes with the Tiger.

Should I wait for Leopard? Or buy the Macbook and upgrade to Leopard? Or should I wait until January when they *might* refresh their notebook line?

Well, I don't see why you shouldn't wait...unless you really want to jump into the deal. Just checking though, as I'm too lazy to check myself :p, is the deal going to be more of a discount than getting Leopard pre-installed? ($129 price)?

Another reason to wait though...there is a rumour that the MacBook will be updated later this month. So you may want to see if that comes true, and even if it doesn't then you will get Leopard pre-installed, instead of having to pay $129 later to get it.

Well if Apple gives student discounts (not sure if works for Canada?) to people who purchase their new operating system, then I think it would be cheaper than buying a new Macbook preinstalled with Leopard since that system configuration retails $1449+tax in Canada.

Now I'm unsure if I want to buy now if Mac does refresh their notebook line...

The MBP won't be updated until early 2008...but there is a possibility the MacBook will be later this month. However, Apple may just wait until Penryn in early 2008 to update both the MB and MBP.

Yes, the Student Discount works in Canada. You will need to enter your Student ID though, unlike the U.S. online Store where you just need to select your school.

Just wait the 14 days and see.

As for rumors, there are rumors that the MB will be updated along with leopard on the 26th, or possibly the 1st week of November, or even January. Who knows?

Why not wait until the end of October, and if it's not updated, buy one for Christmas? :)

More than likely you will see updated MacBooks in November. All signs point to 'don't buy' at this point.

You should wait. Like the guys have said, apple might update the mb's by the time leopard comes out, I've read everything from subtle updates to major overhauls, so maybe give it 2 or 3 weeks and see what happens. Just my 2 cents.

I would wait since Leopard is likely on 2 weeks off. Plus there are rumors of a speed bump for the MB, and MAYBE Santa Rosa, but don't hold your breath on that.

I'm in the same boat as you... as soon as the Macbooks get updated (hopefully before the end of this month), I'm probably going to purchase one :)
