As the title suggests, should I go ahead and buy a 15" (9400M only) Macbook Pro now instead of waiting for a possible refresh in January-March?

Personally, I wouldn't mind using Intel HD Graphics on the macbook because I just need huge battery life and not much gaming (probably not at all) on the notebook. I have my desktop rig for that.

But one thing annoys me, since the Arrandale TDP is around 35W; unless Apple receives a custom-made CPU - won't the battery life fall a little bit from the current generation? The battery could always be improved, but power consumption is a major issue.

How long do Lithium-polymer batteries last? I have a Li-Ion (51 mWhr; now 22 mWhr) battery from Asus which can barely last an hour on light use using Asus' "Quiet Office" power scheme.

    I suggest waiting.
If you don't like the refreshed models, then you should be able to pick up a bargain on the older model.

There's no use in waiting since Apple wants you to buy a new computer every 1-2 years anyway.

There is a use in waiting in order to get potentially better peformance than the current line-up.

I doubt the low end refresh will be much different than the current... if the current ones meet your needs well, the only reason to wait for a refresh is that you can then look for a sale or refurb of the old model and save some money.... and if for some reason the refresh will be much better of you, you still have that option. If you really need a laptop right now and cannot wait 6 to 10 weeks, then get one now.

I don't really need one now, so I'm thinking of holding out until the Arrandale MBPs arrive. I'm just at home until March 2010, so my desktop is sufficient.
