If you have the NAS drive mounted, it will show up on the desktop. If you want it to auto-mount on startup, go to System Pref>Accounts>Login Items and drag the mounted NAS drive from Finder into the list (or use the + button).

the NAS shows up in finder (infact against all 3 protocols....CIFS,NFS,AFP) then when you try to connect it only opens up in the finder, when you somehow add them to the accounts/login they don't really showup in the desktop, after a while (After booting up) they do eventually showup.

in this method...over a period of few days, i notice the OS starting to really slow down it's bootup speed

Can anyone comment and share a link to where the trackpad "hand gestures" list can be located at?

@ budding the drive just wont automount on to the desktop..if i dont click hide in accounts/logins...then after a pause all the 4 partitions from the NAS open up displaying contents...which is very annoying, why cant the drives/partiotions show up as they are on the desktop and let us decide when we want to open them or not?
