I'm thinking about either buying a MBP or a similar PC like the XPS 15z or Envy. If I buy a MBP, I need to download W7 because I'm an engineering student. If I have both OS's on the MBP can I view files on both OS's? Suppose I type a document on MS Word (W7). Then can I open that document in OSX using either Word for Mac or Pages?

I know that the HDD is partitioned once you bootcamp so I don't know if you can share files.

My school allows me to download W7 and Office for free so that's why I'm asking.

    you'll have format reading issues.

MS Windows doesn't believe anything exists except MS Windows, so it will not be able to read anything on the Mac partition.

Mac OS X will be able to read by default the Windows partition, but not write to it.

There are 3rd party utilities you can install in either OS that allows full use of the other file systems though... I don't recall the Windows ones, but ntfs3g is free for the Mac and lets it read/write with the Windows partition.
