Is there any way to find the serial number of a 2006 Macbook from its internal hard drive that was taken out and replaced?

Long story short, the Macbook was stolen, but I have the old internal hard drive from it still with everything on it (I didn't format it or anything yet). I want to try to find the serial number of the Macbook so I can give it to the cops to put in their national database thing.

    Thanks.

I don't think so... when you go into the software to have it tell you the SN, it probes the hardware for it.. it doesn't actually store it normally...

You don't have the SN from paperwork on a sale or anything? If you bought it used... yeah you might not have it... if you got it from Apple they should have the sales record of it with a SN.

You didn't install any spy programs for this instance? I called apple and they put a block? on my Mac, but my real lifesaver was the program of the place where the cops were able to pick it up.
