Quick question, as a soon to be "switcher" I expect to be sharing either the MB or MBP I get with my wife. Is there a way to have separate logins with our own individual settings so we can both sync our iPods, etc? How does that work exactly?

Absolutely. You can have multiple user accounts, and it works great!

OS X supports multiple logins and parental controls. As the iTunes folder is located in each user's home folder, it is possible to have different music libraries for each user. Parental controls will also allow you to grant or revoke access to applications and folders for different users, should you ever have the need to do so.
