I bought it a year ago (2.4G), and as wonderful as it is, I dont benefit all that much from having a mobile workspace. In fact, I dont really use the benefit at all. So I want to sell it and buy an iMac.

What do I need to know about:

-Reselling a laptop. Is apple technically "ok" with this? Is this laptop tied to my name? I'm asking because it still has 2 years left of an apple care warranty. This will transfer to a new owner just fine?

-Regarding the new models: I know that they made both the macbook and macbook pro more sturdy (tbh I always felt uneasy about putting this thing in my backpack) so... what is the word on the street with this issue? How much does it diminish the sell back of my macbook pro given the newer, sturdy model? Are there any other updates that I dont know about?

-This is glossy. In general is that more or less desireable than matte? Does it not really matter all that much?

-I think my HDD is 7200RPM but I dont know how to find out, since system profiler isnt telling me.

-I kind of want a way to find out how much it cost when I bought it, so I can get a sense of its "value," if you will. AFAIK this just includes my 4GB memory and 7200RPM HDD.

I'm pretty sure that covers everything.... thanks!

Apple is ok with reselling, and I 'believe' apple care can be transfered, but check with Apple.

Is it a unibody macbook pro? If not that will hurt resale slightly.
    Glossy won't matter.
HDD speed won't matter so much either.

Apple computers, especially the macbook pros, re-sell VERY well so you should be able to get up to 60-70% of your purchase price back if it's in good condition.

I dont know what unibody means. It's not the new model that was released late 2008, and from what google has shown me, that's when the unibody model was released, so yeah... this is the old aluminum model.

    Thanks for the answers.
