Apple has just released a new Security update that improves the security of numerous different programs, most of these programs are ones that are operating in the Unix portion of the Operating System, meaning stuff you don't really interact with, but is important to the overall safety.
However, some of these such as OpenSSH which some might use and most don't is incredibly important one because it's one of the programs that allows connection to your Mac as well as Telnet.
There are updates for both Architectures as well as Server clients.
Security Updates are ALWAYS recommended so do them!
This update requires a reboot.
To update, Go to the Apple Icon > Software Update...
If you're using an Limited account (like you should be) it will be asking for your administrating name and password.
From Apples site:
Last but not least, here is a detailed information of what the security update is addressing. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304063

Thanks for the info! I will update as soon as I get mine back.

Does the OS X 10.4.7 update include the previous security updates? It is logical, but who knows.
-
Well, Software Update checks all that stuff, and I believe Apple constantly updates the image on their master drives at the production plants, with anything new, so people don't really have to update so much when they get their new mac.
I think I only had one security update before 10.4.7, but I had done the update before I got the 10.4.7 update so i can't really answer that one.
I have to admit I like how Apple credits the people who report them, I was somewhat suprised to see Google Security Team reporting these security issues as well.
