    I'm wondering if the Seashore picture editor lets you crop, resize, blur objects out?

    Google is your friend. It led me to the seashore web site where the user guide was one click away... It appears the answer to your question is yes...
    Caution, pdf link-> http://seashore.sourceforge.net/guide.pdf

    I have never used seashore. I use gimp. Why not go ahead and get gimp which does everything you need? It's not that hard to use and there is an excellent tutorial available ( here).

    Yes, GIMP is definitely a good choice, pretty powerful. Of course, the best is still Photoshop, but its pricey, yes.

    I tried getting gimp. I don't know how to download it. It takes me to a page with about 20 different files. I don't know what files it needs.

    Sorry. It's an open source thing. Every open source program seems to take you to a page with between 10 and 6,000 files. Once you get used to it, it's not so bad. It's the "price" for decent "free" software. Let's assume you are running Leopard on Intel. Here is a direct link. Of course, it will break when Gimp is updated. The secret to finding the forest among all those trees is to remember your version of Macos and whether you have Intel or PPC (G5 and older). What makes it even more "fun" is most free software throws windows and Linux downloads on the same page as well. Then there's the "stable" versus "nightly" release choice which as far as I'm concerned should be hidden from end users and only offered to users who ask to be beta testers.

    Most purchased OS X software is "Universal" which means you don't need to bother with Intel/PPC choices. Most freeware requires you to make a few choices. Thankfully, even if you choose wrong, most freeware installers run a compatibility check first before they try to install anything on your Mac. Here is a page with gimp binaries for Leopard Intel/Mac, Tiger Intel/Mac etc.

    If you are running Leopard, don't bother about X11, you already have it. Install Gimp and it will "just work". I noticed some warnings about Gimp crashing if you don't have the combined 10.5.2 update. My version of Gimp is 2.4.4 and has been trouble free. If you try 2.4.5 and it crashes, look for a 2.4.4 download. I can vouch for that 2.4.4 on 10.5.2 (Intel) with or without the 10.5.2 combined update.

    Just remember it's worth it. Gimp is the name, not the description of this particular software. Enjoy!

    What is a bz2 or a .md5? For the future how would I download this program?
