    Hi folks,
I've borrowed an older (late 2008) MacBook and I'm wondering about the screen appearance. This is the 13" aluminum model (MB466LL/A AFAIK.) The issue is that white text on a dark background seems to blur or bloom into the dark areas around it. Can't say that I have seen this on any other LCDs I have owned. I'm running Mavericks on it and have tried different color profiles and adjusting screen brightness and nothing seems to make a difference.

Is there anything I can do about this? Other than that, this is a pretty nice laptop for something that old! (Don't tell my TP-500 I said that. ;) )

There's a known problem with early 2008 MBPs and 2007 MBPs known as the "spotlights" problem where it's brighter at the bottom of the screen and then the rest of the screen is darker. There were two panel companies and one of them apparently produced defective panels - the fix is to replace the panel with one from the other manufacturer. Not sure if you have this problem or a different problem.

Thanks for the info. I don't think this is the issue I'm dealing with because it's not an MBP, it's late 2009 and the problem seems to be uniform across the screen. But I wonder if there was something similar.
