    Hi,

I have a CanoScan LiDE 20 which scans fine but has two problems:
    - The drivers installed for it are horrible - they go in the user login items, and they constantly poll whether or not the scanner is connected, every few seconds!
    - The software CanoScan is also horrible

Can anyone recommend a consumer-level scanner that has good OS X drivers, perhaps just a TWAIN driver so it would work with ImageCapture? Or just good proprietary software for scanning?

    Requirements in order of importance:
    - Good drivers - inactive when scanner is not plugged in. This is a laptop so the scanner will be plugged in only very rarely, on demand
    - Works with ImageCapture
    - Great scanning software included - maybe bundled with vuescan or something.

I also need to buy a new printer so a multi function printer with scanner and good OS X support would work as well.

Price range $100 - $200. If you have something that works well, please let me know, thanks!
