I found this on ebay, http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300596759196#ht_548wt_1189

it appears that the seller only deals with apple products, so 2 questions:

So guys what do you think about this drive?

Has anyone bought anything from this guy?

apart from the SSD price, the guys seems the usual reseller from ebay, the prices are up to people usually charge, but Im touchy about being canned when dealing with such a discounted product. Although now you can find some 256gb SSDs for around that price, usually 350+

Not worth it. Its the old 256 drive, not the new(er) 470 SSD version.

Oh, and it's not OEM Mac -- he states it will work in a Mac, which is true. Just as other SSD models will.

I thought it was the P800 (or something like that), I know its not the 470. However the aforementioned model is indeed what apple used before. I was scourging the web for what controller it uses.

True; and now Apple uses the 470 SSD model.
In both cases, TRIM will not be enabled without some sort of hack. That is unless an Apple logo is on the label.

I'm not sure about the drive in the link -- but I do know the 470 model has built in GC (rather good too). Enabling TRIM in Lion is rather simple now as well.

In the end, the drive in the ad is inferior to the 470 SSD, which can be had for around the same price.

I bought an OEM Samsung 470 256gb for 300$, from ebay of course. What i mean is that you can find a better deal than this.

The problem is to find a seller that will ship it to brazil :(

That is really the best deal, otherwise I will go provantage and snag a 470 for me.

    Basically this one I pay 319.75 + 7.5 of shipment, for the 470 on provantage its 398 + 35 (bank transfer) + 45 (shipment).

Well I will sell my F120 first, so I guess I will scourge ebay for a better deal, since in mercadolivre (brazil kind of ebay) I will pay the price of a 256gb while getting a 128gb (which is what I did)

If this is the 810 model, then it would be worth it.... if it is the 800 model it wont.
It is hard to tell since the picture he has is not of the ACTUAL unit plus is REALLY small (cant read the writing).

If it is the 810 model, you can get trim to work on it using the hack....(might even be able to find the apple firmware to force flash on it since apple now uses this model as well but not guaranteed)

But like you said.... shipping is an issue for you and so your options will be limited.

I found a seller today that is selling the same SSD (at least looking at the pics its the same) for 5 bucks more and 32 bucks more for the shipping, he posted the model number, giving it a quick google it returned to me that it was a 470

    PN = MZ7PA256HMDR-010D1 - model number of a 470

PN = MZ5PA256HMDR-010D1 - model number of the said SSD

Pretty sure that all MZ7PA256 models are 470 series ones. You should get this one. It is gonna be an OEM probably.
