    Hi everyone.

My late '08 unibody Macbook has accumulated some water damage on the left back side of the board, right where the power connector and display cable are located. Today it finally doesn't turn on at all (up until now it was running on an external display only). So I'm pretty sure that part of the board has fried, or perhaps it's just the vga connector and the part where the power connector is, but the rest of it looks fine.

Of course Apple will only offer a 'tier 4' repair, which is $755 + tax. That's about 3/4 of the cost of a refurbished MBP. I can't afford it.

What would this laptop be worth on Ebay or something to someone who needs parts?

The 250gb HDD is fine. 2GB RAM is fine. Battery is about half way or so through it's life (based on max charge). I'm also very sure the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor is fine (although can it be removed on this model?). Body is in ok condition, normal wear and tear since purchased.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jacob.

    250 Drive ... possibly $15 on e-bay if lucky, as a 500 GB retails for around 50
2 GB RAM .... I see them for about $10.00
Battery, im going to guess $15-20
CPU can not be pulled from the motherboard
the Shell may bring you an extra little bit but you would have to look on e-bay

From what I've seen on eBay, you might get around $200-250.

You will probably get more for it by selling it as a whole, than by parting it out.

Yea somewhere around this, maybe $300 if you're lucky.

    You could also try Craigslist.
